Numerous cultural and historical monuments are testimony to the rich past that is to place aunified culture of the Western and Eastern civilizations, and this city gave special authenticity.

Year 1984. were held in Sarajevo XIV Olympic Winter Games, Sarajevo, which introduces the very center of high tourism and sport. Every year the city on the river Miljacka host a series ofcultural festivals of international character, among which are the most important: Sarajevo FilmFestival (SFF), Sarajevo Jazz Festival, a summer cultural festival "Baš?aršija Nights" festival of new theatrical production of "MESS", "Sarajevo Winter" World television Festival and orientalmusic.

The urban image of the city is characterized by numerous religious buildings, mosques from the Ottoman period, Orthodox, Catholic and Evangelical churches, synagogues and other cultural and historical monuments.
